Loved its extremely hospitable staff.
The room we had included central heating, iron/ironing board and TV. The breakfast was freshly prepared during our stay. Ideal location in a good location for town as well as exploring the island made it easy to get to key attractions.

Somerton Lodge is perfectly situated for visiting Shanklin Old Village as well as Esplanade and beach. It's all within walking distance. The staff was enormously friendly in that welcoming family-run accomodation - great breakfast with a good variety of food included. New towels were provided and beds were made every morning. The spacious garden for private use is brilliant for relaxing with a glass of wine or a cup of tea from the bar. Also the rear parking is included for guest who come by car.

Bar service excellent service arrived within seconds of ringing the bell, great plentiful breakfast, large comfortable lounge & tv room. Staff were helpful and evening facilites in town were only a short walk away. Breakfast was ordered and brought to the table rather than buffet service.
The bar was a bit limited an d we opted not to use it.

Solo traveler looking for comfort
First off, the room I stayed in was quiet and comfortable, exactly what I needed after long days of dealing with. Well, you know. And the hostess, Anne, she was gracious.
It wasn't exactly cheap, but worth it for the experience.
